AAPPO’s ACT on Diabetes Initiative will help PPOs take Action, Champion better care, and empower patients to Take Charge of diabetes.
According to AAPPO's President Karen Greenrose, R.N.:
“67 percent of Americans are enrolled in PPO type health plans, offering them choice of providers and access to services. Diabetes is an urgent health problem - almost 21 million Americans – 7 percent of the United States population – have diabetes. This condition takes an enormous toll on the health of individuals. In addition to financial and personal costs for individuals, the cost of care for healthcare payers and the costs to employers due to lost productivity are enormous. PPOs must do what they can to reduce the disability due to diabetes.”
